Animal Nature

This week, I spent a day with one of my favourite companions - a beautiful Whippet called Manel. I'm lucky enough to look after him sometimes, and it's a total joy. Spending time with this particular boy made me think about how much animals can teach us about our own nature and how to get back to simplicity.

Dogs are natural yogis, not least because they seem to live so well in the present moment. Cesar Millan, the famous dog whisperer, says that dogs respond in the moment and to the energy you transmit. They are, he says, natural, simple and profound.

So, we are animals too. Indeed, surely we have a natural state of simplicity and profundity, much like our canine friends. So where is it? How can we tap into that state that these creatures seem to achieve so effortlessly? Here are a few things I've noticed whilst hanging out with my furry friend that may help us...(as well as this being a chance to share some of my fave pictures 😛)

Manel loves a RESTful inversion. Does he feel guilty when resting...ever? I think not.

He thrives in NATURE.

He is built to MOVE. Boy, you should see him run.

He loves to PLAY every day.

He knows how to give and receive LOVE.

He recognises the KING that he is.

He is all about the PRESENT moment.

If you have your own pet, I'm sure you will have experienced these insights too. No wonder we love our animals so much; they show us the simple joys of how to live. So what helps you to tap into your natural, simple, profound state?
